Robert David Dunton, of Palo Alto Village in The Villages, FL passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 in the early morning hours. In his 90 plus years, Robert “Bob” was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and beloved friend to all. During WWII he was in the Air Force (The Air Corps back then) and then onto Ohio University for a BS degree in science. He worked for Boeing, Pratt and Whitney for roughly 10 years before starting his educational career at Shenendehowa, in Clifton Park, NY. Getting his Masters Degree in education, Bob taught biology, was a class dean and eventually principal of the Jr High. He championed education and on his free time he was a tutor for countless at risk teens and worked along side the American Legion as an advisor to high school boys on their pursuit to Boy’s State in Tallahassee. He delivered meals for home bound, volunteered driving people to medical appointments and on his free time he loved to play golf with the “O.F’s”, followed the stock market and be around his family and friends. Robert “Bob” is survived by his wife Joan, his children Dr. Robert Dunton, wife Mary Lou; Carol Rieken, husband Bill; step children Mark Opicka and Debra Murphy and countless grandchildren. Tom Dunton, his son, preceded him in death and now they are together once again. The family will have a memorial service at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy 27/441, Lady Lake, FL on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11:30am to celebrate Bob’s amazing life. This will be followed by a burial at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 1:30pm.
