Doreen Brown

A Villager was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence Tuesday night  after the golf cart she was driving almost collided with a Lake EMS ambulance.

After the near-miss at 10:30 p.m. on El Camino Real about 300 yards north of Buenas Aires Boulevard, the paramedic driving the emergency vehicle turned on the ambulance’s lights and pulled over the golf cart driven by 54-year-old Doreen Carol Brown. The paramedic then called the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

When the deputy arrived, Brown was asked if she had been drinking. She responded by saying, “I had two vodka and tonics two hours ago,” according to the arrest report.

She failed a field sobriety test. She provided breath samples measuring .151 and .146, according to the arrest report. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,000.
