Two Fruitland Park police officers are no longer with the force amid allegations they are members of the Ku Klux Klan.

Deputy Police Chief David Borst has resigned. He had spent more than 20 years in law enforcement.

Cpl. George Hunnewell was dismissed Friday.

Both officer’s names surfaced as part of an international probe being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The FBI turned the matter over to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

It is not criminal to be part of the KKK.

However, Chief Terry Isaacs took action calling the allegations “despicable and disgusting.”
