Joan R. Van Riper

Joan R. Van Riper, 83, of Summerfield, Florida, passed from this life Saturday, July 12, 2014. Born in Kingston, PA she was the daughter of the late James and Abigail (Harris) Reese. Joan was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She came to Summerfield in 1995. She worshiped at the Community United Methodist Church, Fruitland Park and was involved in numerous volunteer activities. She was most proud of her marriage to her husband William and her family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her step-daughter, Nancy Steed. Joan leaves her husband, William Van Riper, daughter, Karen D’Amato, son, Jay Bruns, step-children, Kathy Hannison, William Van Riper, Robert Van Riper, 15 grandchildren, , 2 great grandchildren and a sister, Lois. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 2 PM. The family will receive relatives and friends at a Gathering to be held one hour prior to the Service beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, P. O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860 or to Community United Methodist Church, 309 College Ave., Fruitland Park, FL 34731.
