To the Editor:
The Villages takes such care in keeping our town clean and fresh looking. Trees and shrubs on common property are kept trimmed, flowers are changed our seasonally, trash and debris are always cleared, etc. My question is why are the curbs and sidewalks never cleaned of mold and irrigation residue? This black “goo” makes things look dirty in an otherwise pristine environment. I understand the streets are County owned but you would think the developer would have some influence over these agencies to have this done at least once or twice a year. Many residents will power wash these areas in front of their own homes but the main roads and common areas go untreated. Given the tax revenue The Villages contributes to the three counties, you would think we would be entitled to some clean up in these areas. In a community as unique as ours this seems to be something that could easily be accomplished with a simple street cleaner.
