To the Editor:
Having enjoyed living in the Villages for over 7 years, I am aware of a large number of cyclists that traverse the roadways and multimodal paths in and around our community. I’ve seen signs displaying “share the road” and “3 feet – it’s the law” What does this mean for me as a driver? What does it mean to share the road? What rights do cyclists have?
A friend sent me a 5 minute video produced by the Orlando police department that explains the Florida laws regarding bikes and traffic. It is by far the best explanation I’ve found. I would ask that Villages-News.com allow it’s readers to click on the following link to help make operating a car, golf cart or bicycle in the Villages a safer and more predictable experience for all who drive here.
