Martin Guzman, age 75, of Lady Lake, Florida was born into eternal life on Friday, August 22, 2014 in The Villages, Fl. His parents Bernardo & Carmen Guzman predeceased Martin. He was born on November 11,1938,. His sister, Martina was also born on the same date but years apart. He was one of 11 children 5 Brothers and 6 Sisters. Marty moved with his family to the United States to seek a better future in 1948. In 1961, Marty met his wife; Carmen Lydia Jorge; they wed in 1963 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2013. They have 2 sons; Jeff(Rhonda) and Kenneth (Laura); Five grandchildren; Giovanni & Amelia (Jeff) Karina, Allie & Nelson (Kenneth). Marty was predeceased by brothers, Nicky, Ridge, NY and Fey, NY, Sisters Eva PR, Martina, NY and Gladys,P.R. Other surviving siblings are: Carmen (Walter) NY, Tina NY, Lucy, N.C. Sixto(Hilda) ,Pt. St. Lucie, Fl. Mercedes (Maximino),P.R. Freddie (Isabel), Tavares. Many nieces and nephews. Marty retired after 25 years with The Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center. He was proud of his “Perfect Attendance” award for all those years. Marty survived Colon Cancer in 1990, moved to the Villages in 1994. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren on their summer visits. Although, he was unable to attend mass due to his illness, he would spend hours, reading scripture quietly in his room. Marty loved his bicycle, always discovering new areas in The Villages and stopping to talk to people. He loved gardening and took care of his plants and flowers with tender loving care. He also loved baseball, boxing and the New York Mets. Marty has lost his fight with Parkinson’s after 20 years, he always loved to eat at home, saying that Carmen’s love, care and good cooking kept him strong. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church in The Villages on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy 27/441, Lady Lake on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5 p.m. If you wish to honor Martin please send a donation to the Parkinson’s
