Dogs were some of the biggest winners at Saturday’s Craft Show at Spanish Springs Town Square.
Villagers were eagerly lined up at the tent set up by Sun Coast Products which offered all-natural pet treats.
Jackie Knight of the Village of Liberty Park bought treats for Ella, a dog that belongs to Mary Anne Bickar.
“It’s her dog, but some how I always end up buying the treats,” Knight said.
Sun Coast Products was represented by Ron and Janet Bognar of Sarasota.
“It’s always great to come to The Villages,” Ron Bognar said. “People like to see the treats first hand. And they love their animals.”
Meanwhile, Villager Don Day was busy outfitting his dogs, Lily and Laci.
“We always have to have them in the latest fashions,” Day said. “This is a great place to shop.”
While some love to cuddle up with their furry friends, Alene Kraus of the Village of Fernandina is looking forward to curling up with a couple of good books she found at the craft show.
She met author Pamela Bauer Mueller who writes from her base on Jekyll Island on the southeast Georgia coast.
“She was really interesting to meet,” said Kraus who purchased two of the author’s books.
Mueller was named Georgia’s Author of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
The sun-splashed day with with the thermometer flirting with the 80-degree mark, was perfect for Villagers and their visitors to come out and browse.
Peggy Roberts and Beverly Brumbaugh, both of the Village of Duval, shared a park bench in front of the under-construction Sharon Morse Performing Arts Center. Each were munching on sinful-looking sauerkraut-smothered Bratwursts.
“An absolute perfect day,” said Roberts.
The craft show continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
