Wings 22 Flyers 14
The Wings scored 11 runs in the top of the 8th to blow open a close game. Bob Winder, who had a 3 run triple in the 8th, had 5 rbi’s on the day. Greg Hansen, Ralph Hollis, Paul Preuit, Bob Farley and Gary Grodzicki, all had 3 hits for the Wings. The Flyers, winless on the season, were led by Bill Warble’s 4 hits and 3 rbi’s. The Wings are now 2-2 on the season.
Solar Bears 25 Relics 14
The Solar Bears continued their hitting streak by pounding out 30 hits on the day. Eric Ehlers and Hank Culley led a balanced attack with 4 hits apiece. Jon Birkhofer chipped in with 3 hits and 5 rbi’s. Glen Lansky, Steve Rapps and sub John Vanarnhem each had 3 hits for the Relics. The win for the Solar Bears puts them in a first place tie with the Relics at 3-1.
Islanders 17 Hurricanes 14
The Islanders were hot scoring in every inning for their 1st win of the season. John Vanarnhem led the Islander victory with a perfect 4 for 4 day including 6 rbi’s. He got some help from sub Donny Meyer’s 4 hits and Roy Hern and Bruce Kallionen’s 3 hits. The Hurricanes got their hitting from Dave Norval, “Hot” Rod Severson, and Dennis Graves, all with 3 hits. The Hurricanes drop to 1-3.
Maple Leafs 10 Bruins 5
The Maple Leafs broke open a close game with 5 runs in the 7th inning for the win. Steve Rice’s 3 run double was the big hit that inning. Rice ended up with 3 hits and 4 rbi’s on the day. He got help from Bruce Breiner’s 3 hits and Don Geisler’s 3 hits. The Bruins got 3 hits from Gary Search and that was it. It was the Bruin’s 1st lost on the season, while the Maple Leafs move to 3-1.
