Division 1 update

The Av’s scoreed 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th for the victory and ran their record to 2-5.  They were led by Kevin Halbmaier and sub Bobby Young’s 4 hit day.  Gary Halse added 3 hits and 3 rbi’s. The Bears were led by Jon Birkhofer’s perfect 4 hit day.  Dave Hafer and sub Ralph Hollis each had 3 hits, while Hank Culley clocked his 8th OTF Home Run of the season.  The loss drops the Bears to 4-4 on the season.

The Flyers win a game, the Flyers win a game.  The Flyers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to beat an undermanned Hurricane team for their 1st win on the season.  The Flyers were led by Bill Moore’s perfect 4 hit day.  Bill Warble and James “wild thing” Quirk chipped in 3 hits apiece.  Hot Rod Severson led the Canes with 3 hits on the day.  The loss drops the Canes to 2-5 on the season.  Rumor has it,  Canes 1st round pick, Dave Norval, thought he won some type of championship this weekend.  He went to Disneyland.

The Leafs jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back.  They were led by Bruce Breiner’s 3 hit, 5 rbi day,

including a 3 run home run.  Dan Vezina chipped in 3 hits on the day and manager Pat Perkins helped out with 4 rbi’s.  The Leafs move to 6-1, tied for 1st.  The Isles loss drops them to 3-4.

In the marque matchup of the day, the Relics pounded out 32 hits on the day and mercied the hapless Bruins.  Player of the Day, Steve Rapps went 5 for 5 with 4 rbi’s.  He also pitched and held the Bruins to 14 hits. Manager Dale Travis also had 5 hits and 4 rbi’s on the day, while Glen Lansky added 4 hits. The victory was dampened by the serious injury to the Relic’s star, Jim Welch.  The Bruins were led by Charlie Wilson’s 3 hit day and Gary Search’s 3 rbi’s.  The Relic’s win keeps the tied for 1st at 6-1, while the Bruins drop to 5-2.
