Wes McGibney, 63, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Pittsfield, ME, died on Tuesday February 10th 2015 suddenly at home and peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Pittsfield Maine on March 3, 1951, he was the son of Mary McGibney, formerly of Pittsfield Maine and currently living in Lehigh Acres, Florida. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1969 and was the starting quarterback for the football team. He went into the Navy after graduation and served on the aircraft carrier America during the Vietnam War. Wes began his career with Cianbro after the Navy in 1972 and became an Ironworker Foreman and ended his career with Cianbro in 2006 as the Human Resource Manager in the Southern New England Office. His career with Cianbro spanned over a 34 year period and he was extremely proud of his career and had many lifelong friends with the company as he had grown up in Pittsfield. Wes was loved by all that knew him for his positive attitude, his great sense of humor, and the kindness that he showed everyone he met. He was extremely loyal to all those around him. He loved sports and golf became his passion especially after moving to The Villages where he played 2-3 times every week. He loved being outdoors whether mowing the lawn or sitting and relaxing on his lanai in Florida. He was the husband of Lynne McGibney to whom he married on September 26th 1992. He was a devoted father to daughter Shelley Echeverria of Phoenix, AZ and son Todd McGibney of Providence, RI and grandfather to his only grandchild Brody Echeverria. He is survived by 3 of his siblings, Shirley Steeves and her husband Tom of Lehigh Acres, Florida, David McGibney of Sammamish, Washington, and Patsy Morgan and her husband Svante Ramburg of Pittsfield, ME, and was predeceased by 4 of his siblings Bette Faulcon, Marilyn Caruso, Nancy York, and Larry McGibney all from Pittsfield, ME. There will be a private family gathering in The Villages, FL to celebrate his life.
