The Prime Time Twirlers participated in the 20th anniversary of the Twirl Mania International baton twirling competition this past weekend at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Bringing home to The Villages two first place trophies for the Disney parade and also for the half-time show, they, in addition, won second place honors in the dance-twirl category.
The highlight of the weekend for them was marching down Main Street in the Disney lighted parade at Magic Kingdom and listening to the applause of thousands of people cheering them on.
The Prime Time Twirlers, coached by Elin Jones, have been together for eight and a half years and enjoy performing at all special events in The Villages’ three town squares.
“Representing The Villages at Twirl Mania for the second year certainly was a lifetime experience for the 10 women whose average age is 65,” Jones said.
The Prime Time Twirlers include Peggy Walsh, Linda Schelling, Maureen Carr, Sandy Plano, Captain Elin Jones, Carol Williamson, Kathleen Kennedy, Nancy Fair, Jan Runyon, and Debbie Winchester.
