The Relics explode with a 11 run 7th to beat the Flyers. The Relics were led by Player of the Day, Steve Rapps, who had a perfect 5 hit day including 3 doubles and 4 rbi’s. He got some help from Manager Dale Travis, who had 4 hits and 3 rbi’s, Jim Faggiana, 4 hits, 2 rbi’s and Dave May’s 4 hit day. The Flyers were led by grizzled veteran Tom Simmons, who had 3 hits and 4 rbi’s and Bill Warble’s 3 hit day. The Relics, who were seen celebrating with Mickey Rivers, move to 9-2, while the Flyers drop to 2-9.
Wings 1 Maple Leafs 16
Pitcher Bob Baker and the Leafs held the Wings to 7 hits in a blow out win. The Leafs were led by Bruce Breiner, perfect 4 hits, 4 runs scored and 2 rbi’s and Dennis Murawski, perfect 4 hits and 3 rbi’s. Dan Vezina helped the cause with a perfect 3 hit day and 3 runs scored. The Leafs move to 9-2 to stay tied for 1st, while the Wings drop to 6-6.
Solar Bears 13 Bruins 10
Hank Culley led the Bears with a perfect 4 hit day with 3 rbi’s. Sub pitcher Dennis Graves, who kept the Bruins in check all game, added 3 hits and manager Tim Wilcox had 3 rbi’s. Dave Patterson, of the Bruins, led the team with 3 hits. The Bears win puts them at 8-5, while the Bruins drop to 8-4.
Islanders 16 Avalanche 3
Pitcher Dan Sapochetti and the Isles held the Av’s to 7 hits in their blowout win. Sapo, also had a perfect 3 hit day with 3 rbi’s. Linwood Manning also had a perfect 3 hit day with 3 rbi’s, and 4 other Isles had 3 hits also. The win move the Isles to 4-7, while the Av’s drop to 3-9.
