A 23-year-old cook at Cody’s Original Roadhouse was arrested early Friday morning by a Lake County sheriff’s deputy on a charge of driving under the influence.
Steven Matthew Merchant of Wildwood was pulled over at about 2 a.m. after he allegedly drifted out of his lane and almost struck a curb near Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
When Merchant was pulled over, the deputy detected a strong smell of alcoholic beverage and noted that Merchant had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, according to the arrest report.
He failed field sobriety exercises and was booked at the Lake County Jail on $1,000 bond.
He is due for arraignment July 7 in Lake County Court.
