Carla Lynn Clay, of The Villages, FL, born 11/18/47 beloved wife of Michael Lee Clay passed from this Earth on 6/13/15. Born in New Albany, Indiana, of parents Alva Howard Gore and Norma Jean Gore, Carla spent most of her childhood travelling throughout the United States with her family, due to her father’s job as a telecommunications contractor. In 1967, Carla married the love of her life, Michael L. Clay. In 1973, they welcomed their only child, Stacey Kathleen Clay L’Heureux. Shortly after Stacey’s arrival, the family moved from Indiana to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where Carla worked as a bookkeeper. The family returned to Indiana in 1981 and Carla began a career as an engineering assistant. In 1983, Carla and her family moved to Greensfork, Indiana where they remained for the next 20 years. In 2003, retirement dictated that Carla and her family move to Florida. They lived in Fruitland Park for 8 years and then relocated to The Villages in 2011. Carla is survived by her husband of 48 years, Michael; one daughter, Stacey; two granddaughters, Courtney and Emma; a son-in-law, Marc; a special cousin, Phyllis Sutphin (of California); an aunt, Janet Franz (of New Albany, IN) and a cousin, Jamie Franz (of Sellersburg, IN). Carla will be terribly missed by her very small but loving family. A Celebration of Carla’s Life will be held Saturday, June 27th at 4:30 p.m. at 1405 Lindsey Lane, The Villages.
