“Jurassic World” easily broke Marvel Comic’s “Avengers” record for opening week gross receipts. The fourth in the Jurassic franchise series proves that there is a barrel of dough in a good summer sci-fi flick.
Steven Spielberg pulls out all the stops in this show. Jurassic World park General Manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Howard) is in charge of the playground for docile dinosaurs on the island called Isla Nublar. Receipts and attendance are OK but the stockholders press for more thrills to keep the crowds coming. In response, laboratories of the corporation have synthesized a carnivorous hybrid dino called Indominus Rex to up the ante.

Trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) warns the executives that Rex is aggressive and has never been “socialized” since he is one of a kind. Of course, Rex escapes and provides the havoc to make the Spielberg movie a hit.
Action shots are realistic as Brady leads a band of his disciplined raptors to outwit and outfight Rex. Note: You can always tell the good dinos. They are the ones who cock their heads and seem to listen to Brady.
The plot is thin, but there are few moments when you cannot feel the omnipresence of giant creatures who ruled the world 200 million years ago.
Acting by Howard and Pratt is believable. Vincent D’Onofric plays the corporate villain Vic Hoskins.
How Dearing keeps her red high heels on during all the chase scenes is miraculous. Mercedes has a stake since all vehicles sport the circled their emblem.
Overall this current dose of “Jurassic” is genuinely entertaining with no bad language. It gets an A grade from me. The movie is currently showing the Old Mill Playhouse and Barnstorm Theater in The Villages.
Trivia: Most dinosaurs were vegans.
