An elected supervisor has released his estimates of the potential cost to homeowners for side striping of the 42 miles of multi-modal path in The Villages.
In a July 6 meeting in which the Project Wide Advisory Committee voted to move ahead with Thermoplastic on both sides of the multi-modal trail, it was initially estimated the application could cost nearly $300,000.
On Monday, District Manager Janet Tutt put out information suggesting the work could run from $252,466 to $392,311.
The information was put out in advance of the July 20 meeting called to reconsider the July 6 decision to move ahead with Thermoplastic striping. At the July 20 meeting, set for 9 a.m. at Savannah Center, PWAC and representatives from CDDs 1 through 4 and the Amenity Authority Committee, will also look at cheaper paint options.
CDD 7 Supervisor Ron Ruggeri has released a chart that breaks down the costs for homeowners by each district.
Ruggeri points out that residents north of County Road 466 would pay less than a dollar a year over the seven-year life of the Thermoplastic. Residents south of CR466 would pay a little more than a dollar over the same period.

CDD 8 Supervisor Victor Ray said striping makes sense.
“We are talking about safety, not striping,” Ray said.
“In CDD 8 the cost per year to a homeowner would be $1.03. That is less than a beer. And you’re talking about saving a life.”
