The saucy blonde trio known as Foxxx can sing, shimmy, shake, jump and jive. In addition to looks and talent, these ladies can be sly foxes.

“We’re not dumb blondes,” says Petrina Amsden, who, along with her sister Jules Larsen and Kathleen Kane makes up the Cat Pack known as Foxxx.

“We’re sort of the female version of the old Rat Pack,” said Petrina, a popular solo entertainer in The Villages. Kane is also a regular on Villages’ stages and on radio station WVLG. Jules plays in Orlando bands and also works in multi-media presentations.

Put them all together and you have Foxxx. Like Frank Sinatra’s old Vegas’ Rat Pack, they like to have fun on stage and with the audience. The performance is filled with singing, dancing, comedy and most of all – personality.

Foxxx joined forces about a year ago and have played a handful of shows here. Now, they’re moving to a bigger stage. Foxxx performs Tuesday, July 21 at 7 p.m. in the Savannah Center.

“This is the biggest show we’ve ever done and I’m really excited about it,” Petrina says.

Foxxx presents a high-voltage show filled with music and dance. The set list includes such songs as, “He’s a Tramp,” “Locomotion,” “Love Train” and a rollicking version of Annie Lennox’s “Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves.”

“We love that song because we feel like sisters,” Petrina said. “We kind of look alike and we all sing and love music.”

Foxxx was actually born one day when Petrina met Kathleen Kane. “We hit it off and got together to do some singing,” Petrina said. “I told her my sister plays bass and the next thing you know, we were Foxxx.”

The group’s big break came earlier this year when they opened for a Rocky and the Rollers show. They hit the stage and surprised the audience by singing “Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy.” They followed that number with “Proud Mary” and the crowd went wild.

“Rocky (Gerry Seader) opened the door for us and gave us great exposure to big audience,” Petrina said. “We will always be grateful.”

Foxxx works because the three performers create a raucous atmosphere and crackling chemistry on stage. It may all seem life fun and games, “but this is a lot of hard work,” Petrina said.

“It’s very much like a Broadway production,” she added. “We plan the choreography, the songs and the chatter. Kathleen is the one who puts this all together. It’s very much her concept and it works.”

Now Foxxx is ready to take the next step on Savannah’s big stage.

“I hope the people enjoy it,” Petrina said. “They better be ready for some pizazz.”
