A candidate hoping to claim Marco Rubio’s seat in the U.S. Senate, will speak Monday night to The Villages Conservative Action Group.
The group meets at 7 p.m. at the Mulberry Grove Recreation Center.
Todd Wilcox is an Orlando businessman and former combat soldier.
“I am not a politician and I’m not a lawyer. I’ve never held public office,” Wilcox said in his candidacy announcement video. “I see this not as a job or a career move but the next evolutionary step in service to my country, just as our founding fathers envisioned. I am fed up with the status quo of career politicians and I am running for the U.S. Senate to restore America’s prominence.”
The crowded field of candidates is expected to include Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller and U.S. Rep. David Jolly.
