Preparations continue for the arrival of the traveling Vietnam Wall in November at the Rolling Acres Sports Complex in Lady Lake.

Jack Johnson, commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 150, provided an update Monday evening to the Lady Lake Commission. Johnson is one of those spearheading the effort to bring the Vietnam Wall here.

“I am excited as a Vietnam veteran,” Johnson said.

He is predicting a big crowd will show up to see the wall when it is here Nov. 9, 10 and 11.

Volunteers have been organized to guide the Vietnam Wall while it is here, Johnson said.

“It is an honor and privilege to have the Vietnam Wall coming to our town,” Mayor Ruth Kussard said.

She added that she is among the volunteers who will be guarding the wall.

Johnson noted that fund-raising efforts for the event are continuing.
