A counterfeit $20 bill that turned up at Chick-Fil-A was tracked by police to RaceTrac gas station.
Lady Lake police were called at 12:40 p.m. Sept. 9 to the fast-food restaurant at Rolling Acres shopping center. A $20 bill which lacked a security strip had been given to a cashier by a customer.
The customer told police he had received the counterfeit $20 at RaceTrac on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when he redeemed a winning lottery ticket for $50, according to the police report. The man said he did not realize the bill was fake.
A manager at RaceTrac told police he was unaware of any fake bills being passed at the registers.
