Russell Gilbert Griffin, 95, Wildwood, FL formerly of Caro, MI passed away at Lane Purcell Hospice House, Sumterville, FL on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Russell was born in Flint, Michigan on June 1, 1920, son of the late Rex and Verna (Mauger) Griffin. Russell farmed in his early years then in 1953 became owner operator of a liquid sugar tanker truck. He also owned the Coin Car Wash in Caro. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann O’Dell on August 30, 1941 in Bay City, Michigan. Surviving besides his wife are Judy Griffin Emery (Gary), Paula Griffin Burrows (Tom), Lynn Russell Griffin, Sheryl Griffin Burke (Paul), Lori Griffin Rose (Jeff), Kelli Griffin Saniat (Mike), 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; two sisters Alta May Briggs (Charles) and Margaret Montei (Paul). He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Griffin (June), Donald Griffin (Jean) and one sister, Loris Griffin Dunham (Carson). Memorial services will be held at Juniata Baptist Church, 5656 Washburn Road, Vassar, MI 48768, on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lyle Ohman officiating. Future burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. Memorials may be made to Juniata Christian School.
