A Villager has been sentenced in connection with a shoplifting case this summer at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge shopping plaza.

Karen Ann Pizzurro entered a plea of no contest to a charge of petit theft earlier this month in Sumter County.

She has been sentenced to six months probation and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.

Pizzurro was arrested in July after she allegedly tried to take items from the store without paying for them.

Pizzurro had been convicted of shoplifting in 2011. In that case, also in Sumter County, she was fined $545 and ordered to take a shoplifting education course. She completed the course in 2012.
