The Villages Parrot Head Club has donated $22,000 to Villagers for Hospice.
The money was raised through the club’s golf scramble this summer.
Event Chairman Danny Roe, with the help of his wife, Lill, presented the check to Senior Vice President of Villagers For Hospice Karen McIntosh on Wednesday afternoon at the Palmer Legends Country Club.
Villages Parrot Head Club President Lee Caron began the presentation by thanking all those who volunteered at the golf scramble and offered a special thank you to the Roes who coordinated the event.
With the help of Fernandina and Friends, the Parrot Heads Club hosted the successful Sept. 16 tourney at Mallory Hill Country Club where 192 golfers participated, despite the inclement weather that day.
“It rained like cats and dogs, but it worked out,” said Roe. “What amazed me were the people who came out and said how much fun they had.”
“We appreciate them (the Villages Parrot Heads) so much, without big groups like them, we won’t be able to be do what we aim to do,” said McIntosh.
After accepting the check, McIntosh said, “the management of Cornerstone Hospice and architects are trying to put plans together to have new buildings.”
She then assured that people would definitely see the impact of the donated money through the new buildings and rooms that will be constructed in the near future.
