An Italian restaurant in Spanish Springs Town Square served its last meals on Saturday.
Luigino’s restaurant owner Desmond D’Souz quietly informed loyal diners Saturday that the restaurant would be closing.
The restaurant opened Nov. 1, 2011 in the space at 1101 Main St. which had previously been the home to a New Orleans-themed eatery.
D’Souz came to The Villages with an outstanding track record having served in a leadership role with the Central Florida chapter of the American Culinary Federation and having worked as an executive chef of the Orlando Downtown Marriott.
Chef John D’Agosto expanded Luigino’s beyond traditional Italian fare. The restaurant offered a variety of American, Mediterranean, and Latin cuisine. The menu had included steak and seafood.
A sister Luigino’s restaurant continues to operate in Lake Mary.
