Congressman Trey Gowdy, chairman of the U.S. House Select Committee on Benghazi, has made an endorsement in the GOP presidential race.
Gowdy, who drew a large crowd in an appearance in November in The Villages, has announced that he will be touring Iowa in support of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio
Gowdy hails from the important primary state of South Carolina, the third major test for White House hopefuls after Iowa and New Hampshire.
The Iowa caucus will take place in February.
When Gowdy was in The Villages earlier this year, he was campaigning on behalf of Congressman Ron DeSantis who is hoping to succeed Rubio in the U.S. Senate.
