Juvenile visiting from New York arrested at Wal-Mart in Summerfield

A juvenile visiting from New York was arrested Wednesday at Wal-Mart in Summerfield after she allegedly attempted to steal a $9 purse.

The juvenile proceeded through the self-checkout area of the store with the bag on her shoulder without paying for it, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The juvenile told deputies she was visiting Florida with her boyfriend’s family. The juvenile’s mother was contacted in New York and said the girl could be released to her boyfriend’s mother.
