The annual Scam Jam Shred-A-Thon was a resounding success.
About 3,000 people showed up Saturday at the parking lot at Target at Rolling Acres Shopping Plaza and had 25,000 pounds of documents shredded.
“We filled three shred trucks and had to call in another,” said Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry.
The police department sponsors the annual event. It was also an opportunity to learn how to protect themselves from scammers.
