A clinical pharmacist at The Villages Regional Hospital has been named its patient safety champion.
Mark Berard is the winner of the title as the hospital prepares to mark National Patient Safety Awareness Week from March 13 through 19.
“Mark was the key project leader for the implementation of our new Baxter Sigma Spectrum smart pumps to help prevent medication administration errors,” said Michele Michaels, patient safety coordinator at The Villages Regional Hospital.
He actively trained all staff pharmacists and nurses on the use of the new pumps and was on site to lead the project’s implementation.
