
William ‘Bill’ H. Windham, The Villages, FL, passed away March 11, 2016 at Prestige Manor, Belleview, FL after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Bill was born May 15, 1930 in Laurel, MS. He is predeceased by daughter Deborah Myers, sisters Doris Catalina, TN, and Dorothy Hegwood MS. He is survived by his wife, Ginnie, sons Bill of Big Timber, MT, Bryan (Jean) of Mohnton, PA, Kent (Patty) of Sinking Springs, PA, daughter Denise (Jim) Brossman, Reamstown, PA, stepson Lovell Buchanan (Marie), Lancaster, PA, sister Annette (Jay) Holloway, Laural Hill, FL, seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Kosciusko High School Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and became a Navy Lithographer. While in the Navy he served in the Pentagon Naval Photo Center, and also served eighteen months on a naval cruiser. After taking private flying instructions, he received his private pilot’s license which enabled him to enjoy doing aerial photography.
Bill loved cruising with his wife, and vacationing with his sons in Montana. Bill loved all sports, especially golfing in The Villages with his golf buddies.
Bill’s heartwarming personality, even in his illness, lit up the lives of his many friends, and staff at Prestige Manor. He was greatly loved, and cared for at the Manor. A Memorial service will be held at New Covenant United Methodist Church, The Villages, FL, on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Memory Gardens, Ephrata, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Kindred Care at Home, 1320 SE 25th Loop Suite 101, Ocala, FL 32177.
