The Villages Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center has announced its designation as a Center for Excellence for exceeding quality standards in wound care. Only 110 wound care centers nationwide were honored with this award and The Villages Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center is the only one within 100 miles to hold this distinction.

The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

“We heal nearly every patient we see in a faster period of time that anyone else and with satisfied patients along the way,” said Dr. Andrew Green, the Center’s Medical Director. “Our mission is to share wound care expertise everywhere we can, for anyone who would benefit, by the best means available.”

The Villages Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center has achieved outstanding clinical outcomes including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days, among other quality standards for two consecutive years.

“Many people don’t realize that a referral is not required at our Center,” said. Green. “So they feel they will just live with the wound. In most cases, we can see a patient and start healing them within 48 hours from the first call.”

The Villages Regional Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed. Advanced treatments offered include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes,hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies.
