A mother identified her juvenile son on Tuesday as the likely thief in a neighborhood burglary.
The theft of $30 from a jar in a bedroom at a residence in the 37000 block of Ridgecrest Lane in Lady Lake took place on Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The homeowner has a video surveillance system in their home and an image of the suspect had been captured.
Police showed the image to local school age children in the area and one of them provided the name of the suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile living in the Cove Apartments in Lady Lake, near where the burglary took place. Police then made contact with the suspect’s mother who positively identified her son as the suspect. She told police she has had problems with her son smoking cannabis and said she had found him the night before smoking cannabis in his room.
The 15-year-old was arrested Tuesday morning.
