A habitual offender with a suspended driver’s license was arrested after a near miss with a motorcyclist Sunday morning.
Brandon Alexander Hartigan, 31, of Lady Lake, was driving a Jeep Cherokee at 10 a.m. on south State Road 35 when he made a left turn in front of an approaching motorcycle, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The motorcyclist had to brake to avoid a crash.
When the deputy pulled Hartigan over, he admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license. His driver’s license was suspended indefinitely in 2011 and he has been identified as a habitual traffic offender.
He was arrested on a felony charge of driving while license suspended.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
