A woman was arrested on a charge of petit theft after she allegedly tried to return a stolen set of Legos for a gift card at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza.
Destiny Monae Poyser, 19, of Wildwood, entered the store at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and went to the toy department and selected a box of Legos, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She took the Legos to the customer help desk and obtained a gift card in the amount of $84.53. She was approached by a loss prevention officer after obtaining the gift card.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,000.
Poyser had been arrested Sept. 25 on charges of theft from a person over the age of 65, dealing in stolen property and providing false information to a pawnbroker. She was able to avoid prosecution by entering into a pre-trial diversion program.
