Residents of Community Development Districts 5 through 10 are footing the bill for two recent sinkholes which drained ponds in The Villages.
The repair of a sinkhole at a pond on the Allamanda 9 at Cane Garden Championship Golf Course amounted to $8,000.
It cost $6,300 to repair the pond at Pimlico Executive Golf Course. It was the second sinkhole at that problematic pond this year.
The figures were revealed by Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management at Monday’s Project Wide Advisory Committee meeting.
CDD 10 Supervisor Don Wiley questioned why PWAC was picking up the tab for the sinkhole at Cane Garden Championship Golf Course, which is owned by the Developer.
The Developer allowed the District to construct the ponds on his property, said District Manager Janet Tutt. The ponds are a critical part of the District’s overall stormwater management system.
