John F. McGowan, 79, of Lady Lake, FL, passed away July 4. John was born August 8, 1937, in Appleton, WI, the son of Ralph & Ruth McGowan. He married Nancy (Downs) Rosz in June 1979. In 2003, he and Nancy moved from Appleton, WI and became Florida residents. They reside at Water Oak Country Club Estates in Lady Lake.
John graduated from Appleton High School West in 1956. He earned a bachelor degree in administration from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Business, Madison. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
He spent two years active duty in the Army and two years active reserve. He worked in life insurance sales for several years, then real estate sales before joining State Farm as an auto claims representative. He retired from State Farm after 32 years, in 1999.
John enjoyed golf, morning walks, vacations, traveling, cruises, and especially retirement life.
John is survived by his wife Nancy and his three stepsons, John Rosz (Appleton, WI), Jason Rosz (Lady Lake, FL), and Justin Rosz (wife Kristi, and granddaughters Ava and Lilly), Burlington, NC. He is also survived by his sister Judy Fields (California), and other nieces and nephews in Colorado.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton, WI. Service will be at later date.
