An attorney for a Village of Hadley man is hoping to be granted “reasonable” bond for her client who is charged with repeatedly firing a gun at the home of a woman with whom he had become infatuated.

Howard Sparber, 69, has been held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center since his arrest June 20. Arrest reports indicated he had been drinking when he fired his Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic handgun 33 times at the home of his neighbor on Landale Loop. Sparber, who is married, told a deputy at the time of his arrest he had a “crush” on the woman, who was not home at the time of the incident. He had previously tried to lure her into his hot tub.

Sparber’s attorney, Pakiza Sajid, this past week filed a motion seeking “reasonable” bond in Sumter County Court.

Earlier in the week, another judge granted the victim’s request for a court order of protection.

Sparber, who is married, is due back in court on Aug. 15 for arraignment.
