A 42-year-old Ocala man suspected of stealing a pair of shorts at Belk was also arrested on drug charges.
Delle A. Loker entered the store at La Plaza Grande shopping center on Wednesday afternoon, put on a pair of shorts and tried to leave the store while he wearing them, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
When he saw police officers, Loker said, “I was going to pay for these, I was just trying them on.” The tags had been removed from the shorts.
As he was being arrested, Loker said he needed to let his girlfriend, who was waiting for him in a truck in the parking lot, know what was going on. When they approached the vehicle, an officer spotted drugs. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle.
Loker was arrested on charges of petit theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Alprazolam, and possession of certain drugs without a prescription.
He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $21,000 bond.
