Deliver the Difference, the hunger-fighting ministry headquartered in Eustis, is asking for donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and other non-profit organizations to send 265,000 specially-formulated meals to the distressed people of Haiti.  This will be added to 142,560 meals donated by a sister charity in Minnesota, for a total of over 407,000 meals. To send this food – two entire shipping containers of hunger relief – within a few weeks, Deliver the Difference needs to raise donations of over $84,500 as soon as possible to cover the costs of ingredients, transportation, and shipping.

The organization has already sent an initial shipment of 18,000 meals, but that will be a drop in the bucket compared the enormity of the need, said Deliver the Difference leader Bob Bostic.

“We know how to do this and we can swing into action to pack and ship the meals very quickly as soon as we have assurance that sufficient funding is available,” Bostic said.  “We are appealing to the caring and generosity of our community to become a part of this very important humanitarian mission to help people in despair.”

Donations can be made via the DTD website, www.DeliverTheDifference.org , sent to Deliver the Difference, Post Office Box 950, Eustis, FL 32727, or brought to the office at 2801 S. Bay Street (side entrance) in Eustis. For more information, call Deliver the Difference at (352) 343-6700.

Deliver the Difference provides food to hungry school children and families throughout Lake and Sumter counties, and its local mission will not be affected by the special relief effort for Haiti, Bostic promises.
