Sherann Louise Christy (Sherry), 73, of Lady Lake, Florida, formerly of Hillsborough and Flemington, NJ passed away on October 10, 2016 after a seven-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sherry was born on October 16, 1942 to Liela and Jack Maloney. She grew up in California before settling in Oklahoma where she attended Oklahoma City University. It was at OCU where she met her husband, Michael.
Sherry and Mike were married in The First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1963. They were happily married for over 53 years. Together, Mike and Sherry ran several successful businesses including Motivation Masters and Three Amigos Pro Shops in The Villages.
Sherry was an avid bowler traveling many weekends to tournaments with her many girlfriends. She rolled her highest score, 298, in 1976 and won countless awards for bowling over many years. She was also actively involved in Special Olympics as a swim instructor and mentor. Sherry loved the time she spent with the all the participants with special needs, especially her son, Jack.
Sherry enjoyed watching both her children and her grandchildren participate in sports. Whether it was baseball, basketball, field hockey, soccer, swimming, bocce ball or cheer leading, you could always find her on the sidelines supporting her favorite athlete. She loved the New York Yankees … even if they did not make the playoffs!
Sherry is survived by her husband, Michael; her three children Cindy Christy-Langenfeld and son in law, Randy, Christopher Christy and daughter in law, Cheryl, Jack Christy; six grandchildren – Samantha, Michael, John, Jennifer, Jordan and Hunter; her two brothers Roy Maloney and Michael Maloney and sister in law, Gloria; and her niece Stacy (Michael) Schreiner.
