A day earlier, Sumter County sheriff’s deputies had been called to Pine Hills Place to investigate a burglary report. Late Thursday, the sheriff’s office indicated that a man they had been seeking with that incident had been identified.
On Wednesday, Natasha Dawn Jernigan, 29, of Ocala was found standing in front of a residence. She told deputies she was waiting on a friend, but he was not home so she was waiting on a ride. The owner of the residence said Jernigan was not welcome and wanted her trespassed from the property.
The deputy offered to give her a ride but said the two bags she was carrying would have to be searched. Jernigan then handed the deputy a clear plastic box which contained heroin and a straw.
She was arrested on a felony charge of drug possession and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug equipment.
She was booked on $3,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
