A 79-year-old Villager who has been in and out of jail all year, walked out of the Sumter County Detention Center at 8:54 p.m. Tuesday.

Richard N. Hendricks had been booked at the jail at 10:30 a.m. that morning following his arrest on a warrant charging him with failure to appear. He had been released at 9:37 a.m. that same day from the Lake County Jail after being sentenced to time served after a series of arrests on trespassing charges.

Hendricks had been lodged at the Lake County Jail since his bond had been revoked on Oct. 13. He was released after some back-and-forth with Judge Donna Miller. You can read more about that HERE

Hendricks, who has a history of bizarre behavior, is banned from all Villages recreation centers, swimming pools, softball fields, town squares and other facilities. He has teased law enforcement all year by showing up despite the ban. You can read more about that HERE
