A school bus driver was ticketed in an accident in which she was at the wheel of a bus carrying young children Tuesday morning in Marion County.
The school bus driver, Wendy Taylor, 51, of Ocala was driving a Marion County Public School bus, and proceeding through an intersection at 7:08 a.m. when she violated the right-of-way of Amber Spofford, 19, of Ocala who was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. As a result of evasive action taken by both drivers, the bus traveled off the roadway into ditch, where it struck two concrete drain culvert covers.
Four children on the bus, ranging in age from 9 to 5, escaped injury.
Taylor was ticketed on a charge of violation of right of way.
Spofford was transported to Ocala Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
