A Lady Lake man, arrested this weekend on a charge of driving under the influence, was also found to be in possession of marijuana.
Mitchell Trent Maddox, 26, had been spotted at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday driving “aggressively” on County Road 471, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. When Maddox stopped his truck at a Marathon Gas Station, a deputy noticed Maddox was having trouble walking. A Corona beer was found in the cupholder of his vehicle and Maddox admitted he had been drinking.
He failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .155 and .161 blood alcohol content.
An inventory of Maddox’s vehicle turned up the marijuana.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting $2,000 bond.
