A woman was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital on Thursday for treatment of injuries suffered in an alleged domestic battery case.
The woman told Sumter County sheriff’s deputies that 62-year-old Billy Ray Durham of Wildwood had become angry, began kicking furniture around the house and then used both hands to push her to the floor where she landed on a knocked-over kitchen chair. The man then kicked her in the back while she was on the floor. When she tried to get up, he pushed her again and she fell, hitting her head against a cooler, according to the arrest report. She was able to get outside and call law enforcement.
Durham told deputies that the woman is an alcoholic and had been drinking all day. He claimed she fell.
He was arrested on a charge of battery and was booked at the Sumter County Detention where he was initially held without bond.
