A man’s wallet was reportedly stolen while he was waiting in line at the U.S. Post Office on the Historic Side of The Villages.
The 42-year-old Lady Lake man had gone at about 1 p.m. Monday to the post office at 23 La Grande Boulevard to mail a package, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
He said he placed his wallet on the counter while he was attending to his package as he waited in line. When he reached the postal agent to mail his package, he discovered his wallet was gone.
He told police that while he was waiting in line, a woman suddenly said, “Oh shoot, I forgot something.” She walked out and never came back. He described her as a white woman, between 35 and 45 years of age; about 5 feet, six inches tall; with dirty blonde hair.
The wallet contained about $35 cash, a credit card and bank card.
