A 48-year-old Queens County, N.Y. woman was arrested after allegedly trying to make fraudulent returns Tuesday at Beall’s in Lady Lake.
Tania Kelly entered the store on U.S. Hwy. 441 at about 9:30 a.m. and selected men’s shorts, sunglasses and a beach towel, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. She then tried to fraudulently return them.
A loss prevention officer confronted Kelly in the parking lot. She later admitted to a deputy she had made fraudulent returns.
She was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $500 bond.
