A crash early Friday morning shut down the northbound lanes for several hours on Interstate 75 in Marion County.
Syed Tanveer Rab, 61, of Atlanta, Ga. was at the wheel of a 2015 Mercedes ML350 at 12:51 a.m. at Mile Marker 351 southbound on I-75 when his vehicle drifted into the outside travel lane and into the path of a rock truck driven by 60-year-old Elbert Dewayne Endsley of Lake City, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Mercedes struck a guardrail while Endlsey lost control of the truck and it overturned, landing on its right side in the northbound travel lanes of I-75.
Rab and two passengers in his vehicle, 50-year-old Tanya Mirza Rab and 15-year-old Syed Rab, both of Atlanta, suffered minor injuries. Endsley escaped injury.
Rab was ticketed on a charge of failure to maintain a single lane.
