To the Editor:
I spent 10 hours in the Villages ER yesterday with an Alzheimer’s patient. Totally unacceptable! I arrived at 11:30 a.m. and left at 9:30 p.m.
There were only five patients in the ER when we arrived.
It took 6 hours just to get registered. To complicate matters, there’s major construction going in the ER. They only had two people registering patients. It took eight hours to get out of the waiting room and into a bed.
They apparently don’t have sufficient staff or space for the volume they deal with. I question their procedures, as we stayed in the waiting room (which was growing rapidly) and they called us in three separate times for various tests. In between each test was two hours. After each test, they sent us back into the waiting area. They need major changes before I will return.
