An 80-year-old Villager wanted on a warrant after skipping a court date in Lake County, was taken into custody last month at a Burger King in Daytona Beach.

Richard N. Hendricks had been ordered by Judge William Law on June 5 to return to court three days later to answer to a charge of grand theft. Hendricks didn’t show and the judge issued a warrant for his arrest.

A teletype confirming Hendricks’ arrest was received June 26 in Lake County Court.

Hendricks had previously forfeited bond in the case in which he allegedly triple billed a snowbird from Michigan for a rental home in the Village of Del Mar.

At the time of his arrest at the fast-food restaurant, Hendricks was traveling in a 1997 Lincoln. An inventory of the car by Daytona Beach police showed a wheelchair, miscellaneous clothing and trash were in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Hendricks was booked at the Volusia County Jail and was released after posting $2,000 bond.

Hendricks has been banned from  all Villages property, including the town squares, recreation centers and movie theaters.
